40 Stories in 40 Days: Day 30

Every spring, Leadership Austin recognizes alumni and community leaders who are serving the region in exceptional ways, and who are committed to our core values of community trusteeship, inclusiveness, collaborative decision-making and personal responsibility. The Ascendant award is given to an alumnus who has graduated from Essential or Emerge in the past five years. Maram Museitif (Emerge 10 – 2016) was the recipient of the award in 2019.

Maram is a champion for quality healthcare that is accessible to all. Currently serving on the Board of Managers for Central Health, Maram has experience with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency as well as the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. She has also served as chair of the Legislative Policy and Advocacy Committee for the Texas Public Health Association and is currently serving on the City of Austin Human Rights Commission.
