Retirement is not the end of your Leadership!

Retirement is not the end of your Leadership!

Have you retired and keep thinking there has to be more to retired life than what you are experiencing?  Are you working part-time and think you have more to give? Do you have seasoned leadership and business expertise that you are willing to give impactful missions caring for our Central Texas community?  Then it’s time to explore the Leadership Austin Fellows program.

Quietly launched in 2018, the Fellows program, open to alumni and non-alumni alike, was created with the goal of building nonprofit capacity utilizing the experience of semi or fully retired civic leaders. Working part-time approximately 2 days a week for 10 months, our Fellows have solved high level problems for area nonprofits, including:

  • Creating new revenue streams,
  • Crafting leadership training program,
  • Building business models,
  • Developing marketing and communication plans
  • Writing new human resources policies, and so much more.

Thanks to the St. David’s Foundation, we have placed over 50 Fellows in the last five years. If you would like to join the 2023-2024 Fellow cohort, working September to June, now is the time to apply.  For a better understanding of our program, please watch this video. Our Fellows are paid a small stipend, approx. $1,000 a month. You can learn more about the Fellows program here.

If you are interested in exploring the Fellows program, please contact Debbie Johnson, former Board Chair of Leadership Austin and program manager, at 512-517-9485 or fellows@leadershipaustin.org.

We are hosting a virtual informational session for potential Fellows on March 7th at noon. Please let Debbie know if you would like to attend.
