After Courtney Bailey (Emerge 10 – 2016) completed her Leadership Austin program, she was inspired to return as a full-time member of the staff team. Courtney says that she originally hesitated to apply to Emerge because she thought the definition of “leader” didn’t apply to her. In the program, she learned that she could create her own definition of leadership. Now, as the Director of Issues and Engagement, Courtney is passionate about making a place for everyone at Leadership Austin.
You can catch Courtney in the front of the room every month as she guides the Engage Breakfast Series, and as the program manager for Essential (applications open April 1!). Courtney was recently honored as a Top 10 Young Professional by the Austin Black Business Journal and with the Award for Outstanding Leadership by the Austin Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
