Advancing Racial Equity – Mayor’s Task Force Update

“The people closest to the pain should be closest to the power.” – Ayanna Pressley

Last year, the Co-Chairs from the Mayor’s Task Force on Institutional Racism and System Inequities discussed recommendations to tackling racial and economic segregation issues in Austin. The task force produced a report, which included 250 recommendations focused on criminal & civil justice; education; heath; finance, banking & industry; and real estate & housing. Since then, several strides have been made to improve racial equity services, establish a stronger communication and public relations plan and strategically train leadership across all sectors in the Beyond Diversity™ training to develop a racial equity lens to apply to their businesses, organizations and sphere of influence.

We are excited to check in with the task force to learn about their progress, current challenges, next steps and immediate call to actions. Join us in learning what role you can play in creating systemic changes to advance racial equity in Greater Austin.
