Engage Breakfast Series March 13 – School Finance: Let’s Do The Math
School Finance: Let’s Do The Math

Do you think too much of your tax dollars are going to public schools? Maybe you think that teachers need to get paid more. Or perhaps you’re simply wondering where the money is used and how it all adds up. Let’s have a discussion about why our education finance system needs our focus and how it affects us all.

Currently, Texas is one of the lowest funded education systems, ranked 43rd. Although school funding will not solve all our education challenges, money in education matters when it comes to creating quality education for the 5.3 million students in the Texas public school system. This includes high quality teachers, diverse and inclusive curriculum and a nurturing learning environment that builds our young people up to become contributing community members. In this Engage breakfast discussion we will address the nuts and bolts of school finance and the impact that it has on our communities and region.
