Late last year, Earl Maxwell announced that he would retire at the end of 2019. His departure from the St. David’s Foundation will be a loss for our community – under his leadership as Chief Executive Officer, the foundation has grown into one of the 10 largest health charities in the country. In 2019, the foundation planned to distribute more than $82 million in the Austin region – ten times more than when Earl joined the organization in 2007.
Leadership Austin recognized Earl as an Honorary Alumnus at our Community Engagement Honorees Reception last March. Although Earl is not an alumnus of a Leadership Austin program, his service in the community embodies our core values of community trusteeship, inclusiveness, collaborative decision-making and personal responsibility. It has been our privilege to bear witness to and benefit from Earl’s lifetime of leadership in Austin. We wish him the very best as he begins this next chapter in a well-lived life.
