The 2018 Greater Austin Civic Health Index™ report explored how the strength of a community is based on relationships with each other through giving, volunteering and being involved. Approximately 68% of Austin area residents reported donating money to charitable organizations and on average volunteered 8.7 hours per month. Despite best practices or intentions, systemic inequities continue to persist in philanthropy. Structural parameters can make access to resources a challenge for underrepresented organizations and individuals. Join our panel as we discuss why equity matters in philanthropy and explore whether the act of giving time, talent and treasure is enough to transform systems.

Leadership Austin Alumni are invited to join the Alumni Corner, immediately after the panel from 9:05am-9:45am. The Alumni Corner is an opportunity to bring Leadership Austin’s Essential and Emerge alumni together to have a reflective dialogue about the panel as well as things that may have been overlooked during the panel discussion. Robyn Burchfiel, Essential Class 40 / 2019, BiNi Coleman, Essential Class 39/2018, will be our guest facilitators this month.
