The U.S. Census defines Asian Americans as individuals having origins in any of the original peoples of the Far East, Southeast Asia, or the Indian subcontinent. As a broad racial category, Asian Americans are one of the fastest growing Austin communities ranking ninth amongst the nation’s largest 30 cities.
Late last year the United Nations issued a report outlining the increasing violence and hate incidents that continue to increase towards our Asian communities. Join us to hear from our panelists as they discuss cultural awareness, representation, myths that all Asian Americans are flourishing and strategies to dismantle harmful stereotypes.
