The Latinx/Hispanic community consists of diverse individuals but health efforts do not always reflect this diversity. It is not surprising that pre-existing health disparities in the Latinx/Hispanic community have been exasperated during the pandemic. In this conversation we will discuss the importance of focusing on culture, identity, national origins, generational differences, traditions, language, and community relations when improving public health in the Latinx/Hispanic community. We hope to answer the three questions:
- What can we do to educate ourselves on the health inequities that exist in the Latinx/Hispanic Community?
- What can providers do to create health equity and address barriers to care?
- What can individuals, who identify as Latinx/Hispanic, do to feel more empowered as they navigate complex health systems?
