Part 2: Community Resiliency: Regional Impact – A Conversation with City Managers
According to a recent study by The Brookings Institute, strong local governance is a key feature of crisis management and recovery. Amidst fragmented federal and state responses to COVID-19, local government managers are essential in building social cohesion, supporting under-resourced populations, and giving community members a voice. As Texas begins to reopen, leaders in the Greater Austin region face the ground-level challenge of rebuilding local economic, social, and civic structures. They also have a unique opportunity to collectively strengthen the regional infrastructure for public health and social service coordination. In this conversation with three different City Managers’ Offices, we will explore the regional implications of COVID-19 and how local leaders in the five-county area are working to cultivate resilience and equity in their communities.
