Do we have the ability to change the way that people talk with one another about important community issues? Can dialogue lead to action? Will leaders let the thoughts of the community shape the decisions they make?
“Yes!” say all the people behind Conversation Corps, a new program being administered by Leadership Austin on behalf of the City of Austin, Capital Metro and Austin ISD.
This new initiative is in full swing, and we need your help to make it successful. Become a conversation host, join a conversation or just help us spread the word. We want everyone in Austin to know that their voice matters.
What is Conversation Corps?
Conversation Corps engages the people of Austin in meaningful civic dialogue focused on public issues, hosted by community hosts across the entire city.
We envision an Austin in which all have opportunity to participate in hosted conversations about Austin where they live, work and play, convened by volunteers on behalf of multiple agencies, including the City of Austin, Capital Metro and AISD.
Conversation Corps gives you the opportunity to participate in important conversations about issues affecting our community. Each month we’ll bring a conversation to your area, led by a volunteer host who wants to hear your voice. We make the arrangements so all you have to do is show up, share your thoughts and listen to the thoughts of others.
Then, we’ll deliver your feedback to the decision makers behind each issue and give you the resources you need to stay in the loop and hear how your input affected decisions. Come put your ideas on the table – We’ve saved a seat for you!
