Engage On the Go launches!

engage-to-go_blueBeginning this fall, we are launching an exciting new program called Engage On The Go with our presenting sponsor University Federal Credit Union. We already have 70 Leadership Austin Alumni and community members signed up to bring important conversations throughout the community.  Do you have time to share an hour a month in a place where you already gather — work, home, church, or even your car pool?

The BIG IDEA:  Scale our Engage breakfast conversations into numerous smaller exchanges across town. We are taping and editing our one-hour breakfast conversation into a 15 minute summary and will be posting it on our YouTube channel. Individuals can access the video and lead a conversation during a brown bag at work, at a staff meeting, at a gathering with neighbors or even a book club. As a reminder, our Engage breakfast series provides thought-provoking conversations about current community issues with a clear call-to-action.

The OPPORTUNITY:

  • Scale the dialogue: We know work schedules, family drop-offs, traffic, cost, etc. are sometimes barriers in coming to a breakfast, so our goal is to scale opportunities that work for you.
  • Share perspectives: We need to deepen our understanding of other’s opinions through listening and sharing with each other.

The EFFORT:

  • Judy Maggio will be working alongside our new media partner CBS-Austin to prepare each video and post to our YouTube channel — we will have the first one ready to go next week.
  • Alumni and other community volunteers would receive training tools and using this video lead a conversation among your networks at times that work best for you — be creative.
  • We would ask that you submit a short survey after each conversation.
  • If you know of others at your company or in your neighborhood, join forces with them and alternate leading the discussions.

So, are you looking for a meaningful way to jump start more community dialogue that deepens your own understanding through listening to others’ perspectives?  Let us know what you think:

  1. I’m in — sign up here
  2. I’m interested, but want to hear more before committing — sign up here
  3. It won’t work with my schedule, but I would like to provide some feedback — here

We’re thrilled to have the support of University Federal Credit Union.
